Introduction to Machine Learning: Solving the Art Museum Theft

Are you prepared to enter the fascinating realm of machine learning for the first time?
During the museum's open hours, the robbers took a priceless treasure, but the cameras in the museum caught them. You will examine the behavior of potential thieves using human activity identification and machine learning to identify the real criminals and retrieve the stolen artifact.
As an associate researcher working on Digital Forensics for your local government, picture yourself having this mystery to solve. You have several hints, but you are unsure of their significance. The use of machine learning in this situation is like possessing a superpower that enables you to interpret all of the hints and unravel the riddle.
You will discover the fundamentals of machine learning and how it may be applied to solve issues and make predictions in this workshop on Introduction to Machine Learning. You'll learn about several machine learning algorithms, such as reinforcement learning, unsupervised learning, and supervised learning. We'll take a practical approach, and you'll get to use a well-known programming language like Python to try out some machine learning approaches in order to finally find the person beside the theft.
You'll have a fundamental grasp of how machine learning functions at the end of the workshop, and you'll be armed with some effective tools to aid you in solving "mysteries" in the future. Join us as we embark on this fascinating machine learning journey!
Don’t forget to bring your laptop, preferably with Python 3.7, and with Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib and Keras installed. ♥

Organisers: Democritus Mechatronics & Automation


DMA (Democritus Mechatronics & Automation) is the mechatronics and automation student team of Democritus University of Thrace. The team was created in March 2022 and since then it has been operating in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in the Mechatronics & Systems Automation Lab in Xanthi, Greece.
The group is currently developing a quadcopter drone that can autonomously discover and report on fire outbreaks in their earliest stages. In the UAV Competition at the ICUAS 2022 conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia (May 2022), the team, which submitted software-level simulations of the under-development autonomous UAV, finished 9th out of 53 registered university teams.
