Your Right to Privacy Online

"Your Right to Privacy Online" is an informal education workshop which will inform the participants about privacy rights in the digital age, and train them on how to detect digital trackers hidden in websites and mobile phone applications as well as how to disable online tracking of personal data by third parties. Every participant will be able to become a volunteer researcher (citizen-scientist) who will search and record the cookies encountered in digital life.
The event is part of the European project "CSI-COP: Citizen Scientists Investigating Cookies and App GDPR compliance” where the team of the Applied Electronics Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras participates as a partner.

Team info

The Applied Electronics Lab is one of the main laboratories in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Patras. It was founded in 1974 and is responsible for the education of students in the courses of Electronics, Microelectronics, Microcomputers, Embedded Systems, Telecommunication Electronics and Real-Time Local Area Networks. Apart from education, another important objective of the Lab is oriented research aimed at developing innovative hardware/software systems and their application in the field. The APEL’s scientific group that participates in the workshop “Your Right to Privacy online” consists of scientists/researchers that has proven expertise and shown innovation in designing and developing systems and technological tools used in training. The members of the scientific group are Giannis Gialelis, Ilias Konstantinopoulos, Nantia Lantavou and Aggeliki Karakonstanti.
