PreECESCON7: Contest of Ideas

The PreECESCON competition, which is now a tradition of ECESCON, it enables teams from all over Greece to compete in order to showcasing the talent and potential of our country's young engineers. Over the years the requirements of the competition increase and the teams guided by the abilities but also the ingenuity that characterize attract interest professors/professors, companies, delegates and anybody follows all these years the competition. So, ECESCON 14 welcomes for another year the big PreECESCON 7 competition with the theme «Εὖ ζῆν & Smart Cities».

This year the competing engineers are invited to implement and present ideas that raise the standard of living of cities, improve our daily lives in them and more broadly make cities smarter (Smart Cities). Equally acceptable are anthropocentric ideas which are related to Εὖ ζῆν, that is, ideas which generally enhance the quality of life of people or in particular of a social group (elderly, disabled, destitute etc.). The competition aims to promote original ideas, which is why the contestants are free to implement without restriction their own original ideas and claim one of the three prizes of the competition.

Each team can consist of a maximum of 4 people and has the ability to use any kind of hardware or software that considers the optimal choice, in order to make it the next winner of the competition. The projects will be evaluated based on originality / innovation, technical excellence, as well as their social and economic impact and future perspective. An equally important role in the evaluation is the degree of integration of projects. In addition, guidance, always in an advisory role, by a teacher is permissible.

Regarding the procedure, the competition will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, the contestants are invited to implement their ideas and prepare a presentation as well as a demo by Friday 31 March 2023. On Saturday 1 April 2023, the teams will present their projects to the jury and the best teams will qualify for the second and final phase of the competition. The final phase will take place during the conference (21-23 April 2023) that will take place in Volos. Each team will present its complete proposal in full operation along with a live demo of the final form of its project to the jury and to those who attend the competition. At the end of the of the presentations of all the teams, the committee, after deciding, will announce the three best teams that qualified and of course the winning team.
