Next-Gen Pilots: AI-Enhanced Drones in Action

IEEE NTUA RAS SBC

You participate in the World Cup of autonomous Drones. Each phase of the tournament includes a different challenge. You reach the final, and it is announced that the game to be played is "Drone LaserTag". You want to innovate and train your drone to perform maneuvers that will surprise your opponent. As they chase you, with time running out, you execute a spectacular backflip and find yourself behind them. The timer stops, and you become the champion of the World Cup!

This workshop serves as an introduction to reinforcement learning and robotics. Using Python, we will control the drone and simulate its movement in Webots. The workshop will be presented by the RAS subgroup, Icarus Flying Team.

You should have:
  • Installed Python with basic libraries and PyTorch.
  • Installed the Webots environment.
  • Download the Webots environment Github Repository

    RAS is a student robotics and automation team affiliated with the student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at the National Technical University of Athens. The team has two active projects, the Autonomous Driving Vehicle and the Autonomous Delivery Drone, while also implementing the educational program RAS ACADEMY for beginner students interested in robotics. In addition to these activities, RAS organizes events and workshops and participates in worldwide competitions. Our goal is to inspire students to create. We provide the opportunity for them to develop ideas and technical knowledge long before entering the job market.
