The Democritus Racing Team is a Formula Student team that invests in electrification. It develops advanced battery systems and management technologies for its racing vehicles through its efforts.
But how do these battery systems exactly work? How do we monitor their condition and charge them? And how do we ensure their safety during operation? Even the selection of materials and the battery system's design require specialized knowledge and attention to detail.
Our workshop will address all these questions. We will examine how electric Formula Student cars operate and how this technology is applied in the automotive industry today. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of battery technology and its systems through practical examples and in-depth discussions.
And of course, there will be time for questions and discussions to clarify all your doubts about battery technology and the world of Formula Student.

The Democritus Racing Team is the research project of the Democritus University of Thrace, which designs and constructs racing single-seater "Formula Student" vehicles to participate in international student competitions of the same name. In the past, DRT has competed in Italy (2017, 2019, and 2023), the Netherlands (2021) where it achieved 6th place, Croatia (2022), and the Czech Republic (2023) where it managed to win 1st place in the Business Plan Presentation competition with its second electric single-seater, "Odyssey". The main goal of the team is to promote the values of Engineering and Motorsport among the students of the Democritus University of Thrace, to acquire knowledge and practical experience for its members, and to connect them with industry and the entrepreneurial community. The team operates under the supervision of the scientific supervisor Mr. Pantelis Botsaris, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and collaborates closely with the Mechanical Design Laboratory, MeDiLab. The team's headquarters is located at the University Campus PROKAT, Building of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, 12 Vasilissis Sofias Street in Xanthi.
