The Independent Electricity Transmission Operator (IPTO) S.A. was established in accordance with Law 4001/2011 and in compliance with Directive 2009/72/EC of the European Union, with the aim of assuming the duties of the Operator of the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System (HETS). The purpose of IPTO is the operation, maintenance and development of ESMIE in order to ensure the supply of electricity to the country in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.
